How to Install Square Base Dektite Roof Flashing

The Square Base Dektite is engineered for sealing pipe or conduit penetrations through tile or metal roofing with a flat-profile base. When properly installed, it provides a flexible, watertight seal that adapts to various roof surfaces, helping to prevent moisture ingress and maintain system integrity over time.

1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the roof area around the penetration point is clean, dry, and free of debris or oils. This allows for strong adhesion and proper conformance to the surface profile.
2. Lubricate the Pipe: Apply water or a mild lubricant to the outer surface of the pipe or conduit. This eases the installation process and helps avoid stress on the rubber cone during fitting.
3. Position the Flashing: Slide the square base Dektite down over the pipe until the flexible rubber cone sits snugly around it. Align the square base to fit flat onto the roof tiles or metal surface, making sure there are no air gaps or lifting edges.
4. Cut the Cone (If Required): If the pipe diameter is smaller than the default cone size, carefully trim along the pre-marked grooves using a sharp blade or scissors. Ensure a tight fit around the pipe to maintain a weatherproof seal.
5. Form Water Barrier: To prevent water tracking, create an anti-capillary fold at the top edge of the square base. This helps divert rainwater away from the flashing base area.
6. Apply Adhesive: Peel off the protective liner from the butyl adhesive strips located on the underside of the square base. Immediately press the flashing down onto the roof, applying firm, even pressure across the entire base.
7. Secure in Place: Where additional reinforcement is needed, especially in high wind or water exposure areas, use approved roofing fasteners at each corner or along the edges of the base. Seal over fastener heads with compatible silicone if required.
8. Optional Finishing: The rubber cone and base can be painted with 100% acrylic exterior paint to match your roofing color and blend with the aesthetic of the installation.
